When the founder of such great companies as Kiwi Experience, Stray Travel, and Spaceships Rentals comes to you to discuss creating the World’s Greatest Travel Organisation it is time to sit up and pay attention. At South Inc. we have had the pleasure of working with tourism guru Neil Geddes on the creating Loka, coined the World’s Greatest Travel Organisation.

South Inc. contributed to initial product design, financial planning, funding raising, strategic partner establishment, technology planning, and creating an online strategy for the meme #travelwithmeaning.

In November 2014 Neil launched Loka – the world’s first Flexible Travel Collective, on the East Coast of Australia with immediate success. Loka has disrupted the traditional travel space in Australia by establishing a new way of creating and linking extraordinary travel experiences.  Loka is a ‘social enterprise’ with “#travelwithmeaning” as it’s ethos meaning that they believe that the best travel experiences are authentic local ones but that they need to be sustainable in the long-term. Loka works with local communities to make them ready to receive travellers. Look out the rest of the world as Loka plans to expand in coming years.

  • Business planning: creating the business plan for raising capital;
  • Technology planning: working alongside in-house resources to design and implement reservations solution and unique customer mobile application;
  • Online marketing plan: authored online marketing plan and campaign to establish #travelwithmenaing meme;
  • Strategic partner: assistance with establishing strategic partners both in travel retail and in operations.

I worked with Dan Roberts throughout 2013 and 2014 to develop the idea of Loka. During that time we developed the business plan for creating a really special travel company based on an ethos of #travelwithmeaning. Dan contributed to the development of the brand, financial model, online marketing plan, technology, business plan and fund-raising. In November 2014 I launched Loka in Australia. I still converse with Dan almost weekly just touching base on how we are going. I highly recommend working alongside Dan on any project.
